Cabin Fever

This past week has been a bit tough on the family.  Both kids came down with a terrible stomach bug that resulted in missing school/daycare AND the weather was cold and icy (yes, even in GA) that resulted in a lot of time spent indoors.  Then Momma got sick...

So we literally had CABIN FEVER!

We made the most of it with umbrella forts, legos and cantaloupe!

Spiral Finished (well almost)

Here is the center piece of our house...the spiral staircase!  It goes from basement to top floor.  We still have some work to do on it, but having it up and functional is so awesome!

Roller Skating

This weekend for the first time...we went roller skating.  Odin was invited to a birthday party of a classmate at the local rink and Momma took the two boys.  It was an adventure and lots of fun ;-).

Odin put on skates and immediately fell.  He stood up and fell again.  This process was repeated about 20 times and then he started to get the hang of it.  He was so determined to figure it out that he spent the next 3 hours trying.

Eventually...he got it.  Well, sort of...he was able to skate about 50 feet before falling.  And, he loved it!

 Bjorn, too, wanted to try.  So we found the smallest pair of skates available and got this neat balance thingy-do and off we went.  Momma DID NOT PUT ON SKATES!  Bjorn kept begging her to, but given the frequency of kids falling INTO her she decided sneakers were the safest for everyone!

Both kids enjoyed the party favors and goodies.

 Odin requested we go back next weekend!

Wood Stove at the Cabin

Spiral Staircase in the Holman House

Yesterday was a big day of work on the Holman House.  Grandpa, Dad and one of Dad's graduate students, Derrik, put together the first level of the spiral staircase.  So exciting!!!  There are two more levels to go and everyone is excited to see it coming together.

Grandpa has been working hard on painting the walls and Momma is working hard on deciding the colors to paint!  Today she hopes to enlist the help of Odin and Bjorn in deciding the colors for their rooms.  Maybe, just maybe in a couple of months we'll be able to move in...in the meantime, life is still grand in the cabin ;-)
