6 months old

Odin is 6 months old today! On Friday we went to the doctor. She gave him the thumbs up...he weighs 16 pounds 6 ounces and is 26 inches tall. He's in the 30-ish percentile for everything. And since that is unadjusted for his 4 week early arrival, we feel pretty good about it. Odin's been laughing for us for a couple of weeks, but it wasn't until recently we caught it on film. Check out Odin's laugh as mom does her best chicken impersonation.

Poems by Dad

Last night Dad wrote these two very cute poems:

Enie Minie Mine Moe
I want the one with the best flow
I don't care if it's left or right,
I just want to nurse all night.

Sleeping between Mom and Dad is great.
When I get hungry I don't have to wait.
If I get scared in the night,
Dad is there, to relieve my fright.
In the morning when I wake
Mom and dad are there,
to remind me that they care!

First Foods

Oh, we are having so much fun with Odin these days. For about the past two weeks we have been playing around with giving Odin various foods. We officially started with avocado. Mom mushed some up, put it on her finger, and gave it to him. His face was hilarious! Next we tried banana...it was clear that neither food was that much of a hit. So Grandma Fern suggested that we let him teeth on some apple slices. The cool feeling of yummy Gala apple was a MAJOR hit with Odin. Not only did it sooth his sore gums, but it tasted yummy! Yesterday Mom tried a pear slice. Well, Mr. Odin LOVED that, but he managed to bite a piece off and choke a bit on it. Scared Mom!!! No more pear slices as teethers! Today she pulled out the food processor and blended some frozen blueberries, pear slices and a squirt or two of breast milk to make a slushy for Odin. Yum, Yum, he really seemed to enjoy it. He enjoyed it so much he grabbed the spoon from Dad and tried to stuff it in his mouth!

Odin is also starting to show some early crawling signs. He'll pull his knees up under him while on his tummy.

Last weekend we visited Great Grandma Leah. Odin really enjoyed bumping noses with her!

Grandma Fern also visited. Whenever Grandma Fern says to Odin, "Hi, there dolly." He smiles REALLY big!

When we can't get our vit. D outside, we sun ourselves in a sunny window inside!
